Connecting to Directory Systems

The EmpowerID platform supports user provisioning and security management for a wide range of resource systems and account stores by inventorying the information they contain into its Identity Warehouse, applying rule and role-based polices, and then synchronizing the required changes out to the connected systems. In EmpowerID, these systems are divided into two categories: account stores and resource systems. Account stores are directories capable of performing authentication, such as Active Directory and LDAP domains, while resource systems are repositories of resources that must be associated with an account store to provide an authentication context, such as Exchange or SharePoint. When you connect EmpowerID to one of these systems, you bring all the resources in that system to the EmpowerID Identity Warehouse, where they can be managed and secured through the EmpowerID RBAC system.
